Going Away Party

These are my friends here in Denver. Starting at the left: Stacey Allen, Me, Sueann Allen, Jill Whelan, Tifani Johnson. We've been so lucky to live so close to our friends. Sueann lives next door; Stacey lives kity corner to me; Tifani lives below Stacey and Jill lives two building down. We practically live together...we can hear each others kids screaming through the walls. We see each other several times a day and our kids can't go a day without seeing each other for a good part of the day. We go walking every morning, swimming most afternoons, and they are always there to watch my kids. It's great! Sueann and her family are moving back to Utah now that they are done with school. I had a going away party at my house and we snapped this picture. We will greatly miss having them next door!
Here are most of our kids on the bed. There are eight of them up there and three babies not shown. The kids have loved having so many friends around.

Haircut!

Ok, so I finally did it! I've been wanting to try short hair for a long time, but I was always too chicken. I thought short hair would be harder to style and Jared doesn't like short hair, and really I was just scared. So, the thought has been in my head for about six months that if I donate my hair, maybe I'll be brave enough just to chop it off. I made sure I had ten inches to donate and made an apointment with my friend Mary Lynn, who is a fabulous hair stylist.
So, here it is. It feels amazing and is so easy to style. I love it!

Update on Mia's deck garden

Here are the flowers and vegies that Mia is taking care of this summer. She has been great at watering them, and is so proud that some tomatoes have started popping out all over the place.

Mason and Kaeden

Kaeden is Mason's best bud. Kaeden lives downstairs and Mason loves to play with him. It's so fun that Mason is old enough to have friends that he recognizes and actually wants to play with.
This is Mason and Kaeden playing in my laundry baskets. Luckily they were already empty before they started playing.

Mia and Mason were eating their sandwiches under the table for some reason. They were quiet for quite a while and I just assumed they were eating. When I checked, Mia was fast asleep still holding her sandwich. Mason just thought it was fun they were eating under the table.
Mason was sneaking a treat from the counter and didn't know that I was watching. This is him sneaking.
This is him running away after he realized I caught him.

Trip to Idaho part 2

We spent the last few days of our trip in Malad. Memorial Day has always been a big tradition day for my family. My Dad makes huge boquets from the flowers in his yard and then we load them up in the cars and take them to the cemetary to put on my brother's and grandpa's graves. As a kid it was an honor to be allowed to ride in the back of the station wagon to hold all the flowers and to be entrusted with not letting any of them tip over. Mia got to help with that this year by holding the pink rose boquet she helped make. We also had our trational cook out on the deck and croquet game which I never win.
Mason was obsessed with the horses this trip. He spent every moment he could with them. He tried sneaking into the corral several times and even succeded once for a brief moment till grandma pulled him back out. He took his first solo ride and threw a major tantrum every time he had to get off. He also was very brave when it came to feeding them. I am always scared they will nip my fingers, but he sticks his hand right up to their mouths and gives them grass.

Mason is not thrilled that I am making him get out of the corral.

Our trip to Idaho-part 1

I took the kids to Idaho for a week and we had an amazing time. We headed up to Rexburg to see Sara graduate. Other than a few boring speaches, it was really fun to be there and see her graduate.
We took the kids to the new splash park in Rexburg. They had a lot of fun despite the wind. Sara and I even got in for a picture.

A trip to Rexburg wouldn't be complete without Mia getting her nails done by Aunt Sara. Also notice that Mia's hair is done way cuter when Sara is around.

Mia's First Lost Tooth

Mia lost her first tooth. She was really excited, but for those of you thinking "isn't she a little too young to be getting adult teeth already?" you are right. Mia and Mason were jumping on the bed several months ago and Mia's chin collided with Mason's head. Mia damaged four teeth and one of the top ones even started turning gray. The dentist said not to worry about it. They might stiffen back up and be just fine. We thought that was what happened, becuase the gray one turned white again and the others stopped moving...till a couple of weeks ago. Mia was eating a sandwich and told me that her tooth hurt. I looked and it was very wiggly. The next night we were in Idaho and Maxine was helping Mia brush her teeth and it popped right out. Mia was a little shocked at first, but then she was really excited. The next morning she found the money under her pillow and looked at me suspiciously and said "did the tooth fairy really leave this under my pillow?" I asked her what she thought and she knowingly pointed at me. I said, "Well, we can pretend it was the tooth fairy huh."

Poor Mason

Disclaimer: I had nothing to do with this. Mia and Mason were being really quiet for a long time and when I went to check on them, this is what I found. Mia had dressed Mason all by herself and aparently Mason did this willingly because he seemed to enjoy it. He hasn't wanted to put one on since, but he had fun being a princess for a few minutes. Poor Mason has to watch Mia and her friends put on princess dresses and dance around every day. Who wouldn't want to join in.

Mia's Dance Recital

I mentioned a while back that I broke our camera at Mia's Dance recital. We got a new camera and I have just figured out how to download all the pictures that I've taken over the last month, so I am trying to catch up. Sorry if I bore you all to death but here goes. Starting with the afore mentioned dance recital.
Here is Mia singing "Tomorrow" from Annie.

This is Mia and her friend Abby from next door.
